Highlighting

This is what highlighted text looks like.

HIGHLIGHTING
is a selection process.  You select text because you want to change the formatting, print that selection, or copy and paste it to another location.  There are many ways to highlight.

Dragging the mouse.
Move your mouse just before the H in Highlighting in the paragraph above.  Now click the left clicker, and drag your mouse to the right and then down to the end of this sentence.  Don't let go of the clicker until you have select/highlighted exactly what you are aiming for.  If you have gone too far, you can back up.  If you let go by mistake, click a blank area to turn the highlighting off, then start again.

You may drag/highlight from upper left corner to work down the page, or from the bottom right to work up.  Click after the last word in this paragraph and highlight it working backwards.

Click + Shift Click
Especially on web pages highlighting can be slippery.  One neat trick is to click at one end of the text you want, and then hold the shift key down while clicking the other end.  Try that on this paragraph.

Double-clicking
Sometimes, all you want to do is highlight one word.
The easiest way to do that is by double-clicking it.

Try Triple clicking one of the large paragraphs above.

Ctrl + A
Hold the Ctrl key down while you tap the letter A.  This is a keyboard shortcut for the Select All command found in many Edit Menus.
