Start Menu
Mousercise-  Day 2, Step Q-  traffic patterns 

 Your computer has program icons on the desktop (double-click to open) and icons on the Taskbar and listings in the Start Menu (single-click to open.) These shortcuts are a customized limited selection.

The Start Menu, accessed through the Start button at the bottom left of your screen, provides access to all programs, files, and parts of your computer.  It is also where you find the command to shut down your computer.  (I know, it's kind of like parking in the driveway.) 

 

This is a sample Start Menu.

Browse
by clicking the All Programs button.  You will see 2 alphabetized lists, one of individual files, followed by a collection of folders.  Click a yellow folder to find out what is inside. 

                      or

Search by typing the name of the program in the Search box and then tapping the Enter key.  A list will show above.  Single-click to make your selection.

Can you find the Sticky Notes
Windows 7 users
will find them in the Accessories folder.
 


Solitaire
is a game that lets us practice all of our mousey moves.

Single Click to flip a card.
Drag to move a card to one of the 7 columns.
Double-click to send a card to one of the 4 Home Piles.

To Open the Game, single click through the following path:
                                      Start / All Programs / Games /Solitaire

Note: when you open Solitaire you will now have two highlighted icons on your taskbar- one for each program that you are running
