Text boxes are blank areas you may fill in with typing.
You'll use them when
filling out forms online; querying a
search engine, sending email, making an online purchase, or
searching your library catalog.
The rectangle below is a text box. At this point, the text box is inactive.
So if you try to type, nothings happens. Tap a few of
the letter keys now, and you'll see what I mean.
Show
the computer where you would like to type by making a single
click in the text box. You will see a blinking
vertical line. We call this line the insertion point. The insertion point tells you where the typing will appear.
After you have clicked in the box move your mouse to an
area outside the text box so the cursor doesn't block your view
of what you are typing.
What
is your favorite participation sport?
Note that the insertion point moves along with
your typing.
If needed,
use the Backspace Key to erase what
is behind the insertion point.
What
is your favorite fruit?
Oops, I meant to say vegetable.
Erase what you wrote above, and change your answer.
Where
would you like to take your next vacation?
Now lets pretend that you
have changed your mind about the answer to the sport
question. To edit, click at the end of the word, move
mouse cursor outside box, backspace and re-type.
